Annual Vendor Partner (AVP) Buying Programs

Many Member Stores view ICBA’s Vendor Programs as one of the more tangible benefits of Membership. On average, ICBA Members save 12.3% on aggregated purchases from our partners. Each ICBA Member receives an annual statement of purchases and estimated savings for each program in which it has participated.

The ICBA process in vetting Vendors helps enhance the relationship between what is ultimately a direct Store-to-Vendor connection. The ICBA team works with Vendors to set the groundwork in establishing expectations. Member Stores meet with, order, take receipt, pay, and work directly with the Vendor.

VETTING

Before extending an invitation to join ICBA as an Annual Vendor Partner (AVP), each candidate undergoes a thorough vetting process. This includes gathering direct feedback from ICBA Member Stores currently working with the vendor. Members are asked to evaluate key areas such as customer service, ordering experience, product quality and packaging, delivery reliability, and overall sales support. The ICBA team also asks about product performance, specifically how items are selling and whether stores have needed reorders, as an important indicator of success at retail. For service-based providers, these questions are thoughtfully tailored to reflect the nature of the program and the value it delivers to Members. Importantly, Members are also asked whether they would recommend the vendor to other ICBA Members, because a Member endorsement is essential.

PRODUCTS AND PROGRAMS

ICBA partners with a broad mix of vendors, including both product-based vendors offering merchandise for resale and service providers that support store operations and the overall customer experience. While ICBA has always emphasized Vendor programs featuring preferred terms for ICBA Members on leading products, we also put a major focus on developing special programs with leading service providers. ICBA partners with vendors who offer products from several essential college store categories and their many subcategories, including but not limited to: apparel, gifts, supplies, technology, course materials, convenience, health and beauty products, management resources, retail services, and more!
